BFE | Portfolio Film Development Course

The strongest portfolio films don’t try to impress admissions officers. They reveal how the filmmaker sees the world.

The Twelve-Hour Portfolio Film Intensive, offered by filmmakers and Best Fit advisors Jesse Damazo and Sinah Ober, helps students develop and produce an original portfolio film for film school applications. From concept development and character exploration through pre-production, production planning, editing, and final refinement, students are guided through the complete filmmaking process while developing a project that reflects their unique creative voice and vision.

Film schools are not primarily looking for technical proficiency — they are looking for applicants with a distinct point of view and the ability to communicate it through cinematic storytelling. Through guided project development, feedback, and one-on-one support, students will strengthen both their artistic voice and their filmmaking craft.

By the end of the intensive, students will have a polished portfolio film, a deeper understanding of their artistic identity, and greater confidence in their ability to communicate through film.

While many students choose to develop narrative films, the intensive can also support documentary, experimental, essay, and hybrid approaches to filmmaking, as well as portfolio development for graduate film school applicants.
